GET UP (Grassroots Economics Training for Understanding and Power) : A series of regional “train the trainer” schools and local workshops that will provide activists with the ability to articulate a critique of the prevailing neoliberal “common sense” (and resulting economic policies and pain) as well as alternative policies.
“The Other America is Our America”: A series of public educational projects and events in 2013-2014 that will build upon activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the publication of Michael Harrington’s The Other America (2012) and utilize the anniversaries of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (2013) and the War on Poverty (2014) to challenge poverty today, particularly among the working poor.
DSA was concerned to find out that the company that provides our website and online organizing infrastructure, NationBuilder, had as a client the Trump campaign and other right-wing candidates. Progressives built this kind of infrastructure and tools for digital organizing and we have now lost that organizing edge. We are moving to identify other options for a CMS/CRM. As an under-resourced, member funded organization, this move will take time for us to carry out, but it is an important statement for us to make.
